Top 10 Tips

KEEPING GUINEA PIGS? HERE ARE TEN TOP TIPS FOR HAPPIER HEALTHIER PETS.

They are also the minumum requirements for adopting piggies from Little Brambles




1.Guinea pigs are sociable animals and need the company of same sex piggies.


2.You will need to meet their essential Vitamin C requirements by providing fresh fruit/vegetables daily.


3.Provide them with a dry,clean, warm and spacious home/hutch minimum 120cm x 60cm (4' x 2')for two guinea pigs.


4.Give them access to good quality dust free hay at all times.


5.Provide clean and fresh water every day - in a clean and fresh water bottle.


6.Try simply hay and newspaper as bedding, avoid using sawdust, shavings or straw.


7.Ensure they have daily access to dry food/pellets - without artificial colourings.


8.Bring their hutch into a weatherproof area during the cold, windy and damp winter months.


9.Please do not house them with a rabbit-different species, different needs, can cause injuries.


10.Find the contact details of a knowledgeable guinea pig vet before you need one.
